music festival …. first year

I spent this morning with Olivia at the music festival for her first time playing the violin. As I sat there is seemed like yesterday that I was waiting for my name to be called up for my first time to play the piano, I remember be so nervous!

She breezed through breakfast like it was any other morning, her upcoming song didn’t seemed to be on her mind at all, she was more concerned with her “accessories” for her outfit. She was the first one up and sailed up there like a pro, announced her name and song title and played her song so well and even remembered to bow. I couldn’t have been more proud of her. If I thought I was nervous way back when it was my turn to play I had no idea it would be 10 X’s as hard to watch my own daughter be up there in front of an Adjudicator and audience. She sat and waited for her turn to be adjudicated and even went back up when he wanted her to try her song again with a little tweak.

When she was finished she had received her silver sticker on her award, she was mostly concerned with whether the silver was real, “you know Mum, like the stuff they dig in the ground for…” sorry no it unfortunately isn’t real… lol. “Well that’s OK, really I’m going to try for gold next year anyways….”

We decided we needed to go and celebrate with an early lunch and hot chocolate at the Gecko tree.

Great job Olivia, I am so proud of you! You have accomplished something a lot of people never will do. xo

I am really enjoying all the maternity sessions I’ve been photographing in my studio the past couple of months!

I was sad to find out that Christy was moving back to Alberta shortly after baby’s arrival, but I was excited that I would get to meet little missy before that.

I am really enjoying all the newborns I’ve been so fortunate to photograph lately! Sweet little Lily was no exception and she is just so darn cute and such a great sleeper for being a little on the older side of the ideal newborn age.

It is such an honour for me to have past clients refer me to their friends! Justine and Christine are planning a fantastic wedding this summer and I can’t wait to spend their amazing day with them!

Engagement sessions are an important part of the wedding photography process. I love getting to know my couples and spending a couple of hours together in an easy, laid-back environment, makes the wedding day go along smoothly!

This was such a beautiful maternity session. Wai had such a vision for her session, and unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate this day, we did however manage to get out again and while the weather still didn’t really cooperate we forged ahead and captured some amazing images! I’ll post those next week :)

I am so excited for all the newborn sessions I have coming up in April and May! I am thrilled to be able to photograph newborns and maternity session easily all year round now, especially since the winter months here in Williams Lake have decided to continue on into March! Don’t get me wrong, my first love will always be outdoor sessions but there is something simply elegant and timeless about a maternity session in studio!

Beautiful British Columbia …. roadtrip

The kids and I have taken a little BC road-trip to visit friends over springbreak~ such fun! Our first stop was Vernon!

This super cool cherry tree was in their backyard. Olivia and Miss C spent hours in there, if I only knew what they were talking about! It was straight out of a movie~ two friends sitting in a tree sharing secrets…..

Such kindred spirits… a day or a year it doesn’t matter how long in between visits their friendship is truly magical!

We then hit the road and headed to a new part of the province for us, Nakusp. To be honest I didn’t even know where it was or how to get there~ lol. After a beautiful (but wintery) drive through the Monashee pass and a fun little ferry ride across Arrow Lake we were in Nakusp. We met up for a tour through their Oma and Opa’s hobby farm~ so much fun~ sheep, lambs, lamas, chickens!

We spent today up at the Nakusp hot-springs, an incredibly beautiful little spot tucked up in the mountains.

There is something really special about this little town! I love that there is no fastfood or chain convenient stores, there is something to be said for having quality small-town stores thrive because big business isn’t around.

Such a fun adventure with the kids, I love travelling around BC there are some amazing towns that have so much to offer!

I can’t believe an entire year has flown by since we were out here a year ago getting soaked! Our driveway turns into a lake every spring for a couple of days and it’s always a fun way to spend an afternoon.

I can’t tell you how happy I was to be able to spend Jacqueline’s birthday with her this year! I’m sure her last two years of glamourous parties and concerts in London were hard to top~ buuut I’m pretty sure our loud, messy, family dinner won out :)

The only thing that would have made this blog post better would have been if it was her 30th birthday on my 30th blog post…… but it’s not LOL and I’m sure she’ll be mad that I added 2 years to her age!

I don’t think 28 has ever look quite this good!
